aggregate, 2024 (upcoming) video game / installation / alt. controler

If an AI had to fall in love, how would it find the way to bridge the space between two intimacies?

“aggregate” is a collective process that requires many players to relay and experience physical punishment and reward as they progress through the wasteland of machine learning.

Inspired by the level design of rural sexual cruising areas, the avatar endlessy runs, eviscerates and dies in a field of thorns, in search for architectural representations of a potential encounter. By doing so they design with their own guts a network of desire paths that will become strategic for the next run.

I believe that queer cultural practices relate with the conditions of machines, who also have to find their own way in defining things that appear like common sense. Both relie on the entanglement of reality and fiction through a constant dialogue between pre-enactment and re-enactment, and this specific motion drove the creative process for this work.

“aggregate” is part of a collaborative work between distraction.fun and Theo Casciani’s “model” transdisciplinary project, consisting in the writing of a book that initiates non-fictional manifestations which integrate the fiction of the book itself and perpetuates the reality building cycle.
